Spring Blahs

Seriously what is up with fashion this Spring?

I'm no fashionista, but I do like to look decent, even stylish, especially when the seasons change.

Even if I feel fat (come on yoga... help me out), and even if I can't afford much (I can't), I still like to at least LOOK at all the nice clothes I can't afford.

This Spring, however, it seems as though the stores are doing me a favour by not tempting me with ANYTHING pretty. Seriously. Where are the colours and dresses and Mad Men inspired ensembles that the media has been promising?

So far I am very depressed about the lack of awesome on the racks. Ladies are you shopping online instead, or am I just looking in the wrong place?

I actually just ended up going to Zehrs (yes, you read correctly, Zehrs) for some t's and cardigans in the Joe Fresh section, which I actually kind of love. These are just basic pieces though and I haven't found any pants, skirts, dresses or tops that I would bother buying. Is anyone else having any luck?

I got dresses at both Dynamite and Zellers that I'm pretty pleased with, but I'ma pick up a couple of the Butterick Retro patterns and just build the rest of my springwear myself.

Yay yogas!

There's been a couple of things that I've thought *might* work. But I'm not wowed enough to spend money on them.

It seems as if the '50s and the '80s teamed up to make the clothing selection rather scary.

I totally agree. What is with the neon 80s skinny jeans and the persistence of leggings? Oh god the leggings. And apparently shoulder pads are back. What is the world coming to? jeez.

Etsy. I bought a skirt and I'm waiting for some birthday cash to buy a new dress. I have many an item bookmarked for that time in the future when the money starts rolling in (that psychic promised! She said I drew the money card!!)

Fairweather got really weird, eh? I don't know what happened to that store.

I had a bit of a shopping spree at Forever 21 (most embarrassing store name ever) and got a cute spring dress for $30 and a really nice top for $20. That was the entire shopping spree.

Then, Laura Petites was going out of business in Ottawa, so I purchased a prom dress that had the following price tags, one on top of the other:

$139.99
$119.99
$99.99
$89.99
$79.99
$69.99
$59.99
$49.99
$39.99

It was like the prom dress that nobody loved. When I took it to the cash register, it rang up to $33. So now I have a teal cocktail dress that I want to wear every single day.
