Someone gave me some fiction. It's been a while.
The Road was really good. Well, I mean it wasn't literary in any sense of the word, but it was simple and suspenseful and I read it in less than two days. For me it was a real page-turner, but Regan seems rather bored with it because he has "read a lot more post-apocalyptic fiction." The praise for the book is far overblown, but it's a nice little read nonetheless.
The End of Ignorance (I just can't stay away from the non-fiction). This book is fascinating, particularly if you happen to be a teacher (or someone who interacts with students in any age group, or a person who wants to eventually have children who won't turn into wretched little monsters). When I finish I will probably read his other book The Myth of Ability.
Perhaps the most fascinating thing I've read so far is that despite the fact that this program seems to literally perform numeracy miracles, in test after test, with all different types of learners, my school board (and many many others) are still incredibly resistant to the program. I shake my head and I carry on (all the while trying to make it better).
