Cottage Cottage Cottage... We All Sauble Falls Down

Corwin's cottage was a blast and Corwin's MOM is a goddess... mmmmm strawberry pie!

Right now I am working on a plan with my best friends Lindsay and Janelle to start a company called "Losers with Degrees and no Jobs." We figure it will be a big hit and I said I had about twenty friends who might like to become shareholders. This is your chance to get in on the ground floor so don't be shy!

I guess I should start applying for more summer jobs, but I am discouraged because no one likes a lady with an ed-u-ma-cation. Grrrrrrr.... Also, I would like to be able to enjoy some time off but I can't really ENJOY anything if I have no bling to go out into the wide world (or even the narrow world... this is Barrie afterall).

In other news I have been appointed the role of "groomsperson" at Greg's wedding and I get to wear a pink tie! It should be a great start to the Hillside weekend. Hopefully by the time Hillside rolls around I will have robbed enough hobos to be able to go on a cd-purchasing binge. Else-wise the weekend will be lost to blurry drunken memories forever. Alas.

Note: if anyone wants to party... ever... I'm free pretty much always (if they partying is too).

I'm not fond of the "loser" moniker but I should like a position of power at your company as well. I would like to be in charge of the explosives.

You bums. Next you'll be blaming Stephen Harper, or the economy for your employment troubles.

If it makes you feel better, you can go to the Stats Canada website and see the results of the most recent National Graduate Survey (see, I really AM a sociologist). Humanities undergrad degrees have very slightly higher rate of employment compared to us SocSci people. Unfortunately, it also comes with a 14% part-time employment rate after 2 years, which means you should start finding Starbucks' to staff.

Y'know what the worst part is? Having an MA doesn't reduce that part-time employment rate at all for humanities grads.

At least it isn't as bad as in the States.

I have a job!

In fact I have two. A real job for real people, and a fake job for losers. One does not cancel out the other as I still feel like a loser.

I'd like to join your saucy entourage, but if it so happens I cannot find a job a couple of years from now, I plan on doing lame free intern work till I can get my RGD designation.

So more like... "Losers with Degrees, Selling Their Souls for Jobs"
