Dumb Like Rocks

Sometimes the children confound me.

Have you ever had an experience where you're trying to communicate basic (interesting) information to someone, or a group of someones, and you think you're being very clear and direct and yet they look at you like you're speaking a different language... or perhaps even like you're on fire, or worse yet they don't even know that you were talking, or, worst of all they heard you and have heard instructions about something entirely unrelated to anything remotely close to the topic at hand?

Yeah, that's my day. Every day. During Period Five.

I don't really know what to do since these are apparently high achievers. Today I told them they are going to give me an aneurysm. I'll keep you posted.

Who says they are high achievers? Was it the parents?

I question the "high achiever" title. Seems too much like when someone is presented with the declaration that they possess potential.

Yes, I said high achievers because they are all in the Academic level class. Which means that they passed Grade 9 Academic, and none of them are flagged in the "at risk" database created by other teachers.
