Exciting Things in Barrie? Really?

Ok, so maybe "exciting" is a bit strong. But interesting fo' sho'.

So lately I've been telling things to Regan that I would like to come true/ whining about how Barrie is a lot less like KW than KW. Go figure.
So I says to Regan, I says: Everywhere else has a "Doors Open" day, Barrie should have one. And then we'd get to go in to all the creepy crack apartments downtown and see the um... fantastic architecture at City Hall, or something.

And then it happened! Tomorrow is Doors Open Barrie and the line up of places to see includes such gems as... City Hall.... and outside.... and the library.

Ok, so this one could be better. BUT....
Thanksgiving weekend is the annual Images Studio Tour, which we went on last year and it was an awesome day. Local artists open their homes and studios, sell their wares, and provide yummy treats and beverages for those who come through their doors. I know it's Thanksgiving weekend and all, but if anyone is going to be up this way we extend an open invitation for you to come and enjoy some great art, sculpture and photography with us. We'll even give you a bed!

Alright, and the last awesome thing is this:

A local business owner has bought the old downtown movie theater that closed in February, and is going to Princess-it-up. Ever since we returned to Barrie I've been saying to Regan that the poor little theater needed a makeover, Waterloo-style. When it shut down I hoped that someone would see the potential there. Clearly I didn't believe it would ever happen, and I figured it would just burn to the ground before the year was out like everything else in downtown Barrie.

Hurrah for things I want to happen coming true!
And now if that essay-marking fairy Sherry Bobbins would just show up at my front door.....

I'm very tempted to drive up for the studio tour. I have a wedding on Saturday, and after that I'm free ... free ...

What's your schedule like?
