Plaskett: Awesome or Awesomer?

Wow.

Yesterday we went to Toronto for Doors Open and enjoyed some free beer, good company, bad food court food, and blasphemy.

Then we met back up with Carly and had some delicious dinner at Spring Rolls. Walking there we saw Batman, many large snakes (alas with no plane), two drum kits, a didgeridoo band and the same "80s" t-shirt three times.

Then it was time for Plaskett at Massey Hall. I am so glad Carly suggested Doors Open + Plaskett. I didn't think anything could really top the time we saw him at the Jane Bond when we were sitting literally 2 ft. away from him. This was obviously different, but amazing nonetheless. He played a lot of songs from his new triple album, but he stuck to some oldies and goodies as well including a song from his Thrush Hermit days and one of my favourites, "True Patriot Love", which he played acoustic while bathed in soft red spotlights, wearing a lumberjack shirt (his second outfit of the night).

One of the best parts was the 20 minute encore that had all of Massey Hall on their feet. The evening culminated with a sing-along dedicated to Joel's ailing, earless cat: White Fang. He obviously loves this animal and it is apparently the logo for his new record label "New Scotland Records": check it out.

The sing along went something like this:
"Sleeping all day, sleeping all night, lying on the couch and making it white.... ohhh-ohhhh my little white fang... ohhh ohhh my little white fang."

And let me tell you, the acoustics at Massey Hall made it sound so wonderful we may have cured that cat's cancer.

If you get a chance to see this tour, I highly recommend it and so does White Fang.

Oh, White Fang.

"He's got no ears and looks like a baby seal."

Gold.

I like the White Fang stamp of approval.
