We're Christmas shopping at the mall and in huge letters is a poster-sized advertisement for the worst garment in the world: panties. Let me rephrase that, it is not the garment that is at fault, but the nomenclature - at least that's what my roomate tells me. She looked up, shook her head and stated: "Do you SEE that? I can't handle this!"
She twitches at the mere mention of the dreaded "P" word. Uttering it is strictly forbidden in her presence unless you want a swift and firm Swiss-kick. Underwear, drawers, bloomers, briefs, undergarments, thongs, boxers, etc. are all exceptable, "panties" is NOT. Some people have problems with certain words, some people don't like profanity, and I can appreciate that but panties should not be silenced! My response to my roomate's idiosyncrasy is to say the word "panties" innocently and as often as possible. I don't think that makes me a bad person, it does however give me a really sore shin.
